Positive: So many good things: Lovely staff - i cannot fault any of them Excellent breakfast and dinner, honestly a feast - thank you Incredible views over the palms Architecture extremely impressive - felt like staying in a piece of art Suite was v cool and huge Best massages of our lives, genuinely! I feel like it would be an exceptional venue for a yoga retreat which I know they run Sooo many good things which is why the downsides are so frustrating

Negative: 1 While impressive architectural, it felt like it had been designed to look cool but was missing some basics eg little shade over the pool areas, the sofas were all super uncomfortable material, the chairs outside our room collapsed to sit on and only had a view of a wall, plug sockets and light switches out of reach of bed, overflowing shower, massive uncomfortable branded cushions on the beds instead of normal pillows etc. The architect seemed more focussed on being photograph-able and less on being usable. 2 Pool was out of use as they were refilling it with boiling hot water - this was one of the main reasons we booked this hotel so was v frustrating and it wasnt communicated until we asked why it was half full and too hot to touch. We were the only guests there so maybe that was why they chose then but was a huge shame 3 We needed some communication beforehand or on arrival to tell us about what was on offer eg how to use the hammam (we never worked it out and everything looked dingy and out of use, again another reason we booked this hotel), how to book massages (this we did get on asking at least), about the spaces available etc 4 The main reason I didnt rate this higher was that it felt like a European hotel plonked on the edge of a Tunisian town with no engagement with the town. I've stayed in other eco resorts in the Middle East where they were super careful about how it benefitted the area eg by having really clearly advertised walking tours by locals, a programme of activities to choose from in advance like cooking classes, information about the town, etc. This felt like a castle closed to its actual surroundings (which I'm sure many people like about this place... but not for us) Unless some of the basics were tweaked (I dont think it would take much for the owners), I'd instead recommend to choose a local-owned dar or spend an extra night somewhere fancy but less pretentious like Dar Natascha in Tozeur

Summary: So much potential and great for instagram but missing too many basics to justify the price

Positive: There’s a hot spring pool fed directly from the source, naturally hot year-round. A small cinema with pink cushions. Yoga at sunrise. Long, sunny lunches. The food is simple and deeply satisfying. Dar Hi follows a different concept of luxury as space, time, and attention. Negative: The hammam could have been hotter - but I believe it relies on the outside temperatures which explains why the heat can't be controlled.

Positive: Amazing location and view. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast and dinner were good. The pool with hot mineral spring water is really nice. Rooms are huge.

Negative: Rooms were not perfectly clean. The design of the rooms is creative but not always practical. The sanitary smells in the whole room
